From 10 to 20 October, the sixth edition of the Haizebegi festival takes place in Bayonne, France.
« Music as an art of listening » said its director Denis Laborde. Engaged and multifaceted, this festival “pays attention to the social bond that music is used to manufacture all around the world”.
This year, two peoples are in the spotlight: the Yaghan and Selk’nams. These inhabitants of Tierra del Fuego are neither recognized by Chile nor by Argentina. Welcomed by the Pays Basque for the festival, the events will allow to exchange with speeches, documentaries, ceremonies of resilience, art practices and crafts …
Bayonne occupies a key place as the city of the International Year of Indigenous Languages, 2019 UNESCO label.
On the festival program: debates, exhibitions, films, music… Cuban, Syrian and Polish music…
